Luxonis Oak-D DepthAI Hardware

Added to your shopping cart

This Oak-D DepthAI variant interfaces over USB3C to the host, allowing use with your (embedded) host platform of choice, including the Raspberry Pi and other popular embedded hosts. DepthAI is built to allow the power of Spatial AI to be embedded into products. The DepthAI hardware, firmware, and software suite combine depth perception, object detection (neural inference), and object tracking and gives you this power in a simple, easy-to-use Python API. This Oak-D variant of DepthAI allows the power of the Myriad X VPU to be fully harnessed and used with the platform of your choice.

The Oak-D board includes three 7.5cm stereo depth onboard cameras to allow quick setup and interfaces over USB3C to the host. This allows DepthAI to be used with your (embedded) host platform of choice, including the Raspberry Pi 4, Jetson Nano Dev Kit, Google Edge TPU Coral, and other popular embedded hosts and operating systems.

Core Skill: Electrical Prototyping

If it requires power, you need to know how much, what all the pins do, and how to hook it up. You may need to reference datasheets, schematics, and know the ins and outs of electronics.

3 Electrical Prototyping

Skill Level: Competent - You will be required to reference a datasheet or schematic to know how to use a component. Your knowledge of a datasheet will only require basic features like power requirements, pinouts, or communications type. Also, you may need a power supply that?s greater than 12V or more than 1A worth of current.

Awesome Dev Hardware

Although I watched this product develop on Kickstarter, having been burned before, I waited until it was in sparkfun's storefront before purchasing. I bought this kit because I wanted to get a headstart on testing before the POE version comes out.

Running through the demos, I ran into an issue early on (Windows) but it was sorted out quickly by the Luxonis team on Discord. Beyond that customer service experience, the documentation is clearly written (and there's a lot! As a platform newbie, I particularly like the FAQ section.) and the hardware is of great quality.

Minor issue: I wish the tripod mount and USB+power connector locations were swapped to make it easier to use with a tripod but that's a minor quibble.

Finally, I'm looking forward to the release of the GUI interface.
