The bananas and alligators are awesome! It works like a wire!

The plugs are fine, with a hole in the side and one in the back for stacking; however the sleeves of the alligator clips are so slippery that it is very difficult to remain squeezing in the right place for opening the clip; this is a common problem with the cheap clips.

    What's the current rating?

    • If you're using these for a sub-$100 DMM, then probably the multimeter will blow out before these do.

      • Well, I would not be so sure. 10-20 amps pushed through these things would easily heat them up, and yet most budget meters can measure currents in that range.

Does anyone know what gauge wire these use?

    • MikeGrusin / about 13 years ago / 2

We don't have an exact spec on these, but we clipped one and measured the wire diameter as approximately 0.030". This corresponds to an AWG of somewhere between 20 (0.032") and 21 (0.028").

So, I'm guessing about 9A max. Key word "guessing".

An accessiry worthy of trust

These cables are flexible but sturdy and made with high quality parts. The key link in getting power from the supply to the project.

Great cables

I love these. The only thing is, I'd like at least one more color so when I'm hooking up my dual power supply, I have one cable for positive, one for negative, and one for ground, that are all different colored. It would help keep me from releasing the blue smoke.

Does the job, but alligator clips are flimsy

After a couple days off use, these are... adequate, barely. The plugs fit in the Artech multimeter I purchased in the same order. The alligator jaws work, but have significant play in the jaws. After just a couple days of use they are getting looser and I don't think they're going to last long.
